I’m not sure why, but I’ve spent a few hours the past few weeks reviewing my life, and future plans and what I would like to accomplish with the time I have left.
Not sure why I visited this inner conversation, but I did, and I came up with some remarkable personal observations, answers, and subsequent feelings. I’m not afraid of the future…far from it. I embrace whatever life has to offer me…whether it’s 5, 10, or 30 years more.
Then today, I came across this video presentation. Yep…I agree with this professor on every level. This is the full 1 hour, 45 minute speech. Take time to watch it soon.
Enjoy.

Hi Friends,
As usual, when things are getting interesting, I get the occasional email from someone in the world of media production, journalism, or entertainment…asking for help, usually finding “volunteers” who wouldn’t mind being interviewed…in places convenient to the producer’s location…with something to do with survivalism, skills, or nuclear prepping.
I received the latest one last night, from Elisabeth

Dear Richard,
I saw a lot of your writing online and was very interested in contacting you. I am working on a series of online documentaries for www.cbs.com and we are dealing with quite a few issues of nuclear preparedness, disaster scenarios, private military, and citizen’s armies. We are shooting some interviews in New York City about the possibility of a modern day civil war in the US…and looking for some theorists or sociologists who could talk about some hypotheticals.
I wonder, would you have any aquantences in the New York area who might be able to talk about this sort of thing?
I know it is a long shot…but I hope to hear your thoughts!
Many thanks,
Elisabeth Harris

I’ve posted this kinds of requests here before, as well as on my website, and on my blog at www.cosmicechoes.org .
Below is my response back to her this morning, after sleeping on it…
Quote:
Hi Elisabeth,
Thank you for contacting me.
In the past, I have helped journalists like yourself connect with individuals in all parts of the country regarding preparedness, survival skills, and community involvement. Regarding the topics you’ve mentioned, there are a great many folks who are quite knowledgeable of these areas.
Unfortunately, I have found that since 9/11, the Patriot Act, and somewhat lopsided news coverage of these people and their work, that most are becoming quite shy about assisting journalists, and the media in general.
I have been sharing these media requests I receive such as yours below, with close friends and contacts, and posting on my websites, my blogs, my email lists, and several forums I frequent for many years now (since 1999), and the response I get back lately is one of concern for their safety, their privacy, their ideas and ideals being misrepresented, and general concern for what the real angle of the news story is. In other words, they fear misrepresentation and downright hostility, just for wanting to help their fellow man.
Personally, after seeing this happen for years, I have decided to do something about it, and returned to college, having finished two degrees and working on a third, which just happens to be Journalism. In the work I’ve done, I believe there is still much to be learned and shared by these intelligent and caring people, but MSM just is not going to get very far with most of them. I hope to be able to tell these stories that others don’t seem to be able to get anymore, through the long term work and longevity of my SurvivalRing project.
I will be glad to forward your request below, and locations needed and contact info, to my usual outlets, and see what we can turn up for you.
As always, I would be glad to talk with you on any of the subjects and help your project if you can use me. I do have a TV and radio studio at my disposal here at my college campus (I am the radio station Operations Manager) to produce any content or on camera work you might need…just in case.
Let me know if you’d like me to move forward, and I’ll start immediately with the call to help.
Rich
To this, Ms. Harris responded with much more enlightening info, specifically regarding a TV show on CBS that many of us here find quite interesting and enjoy watching.

Hello Rich
Thank you for your honest answer! I understand completely where you are coming from and I don’t really think of myself as part of the news media even though I am freelancing with CBS right now. Our project is 22 episodes and almost all complete. We have spoken with experts of all sorts of backgrounds, on very controversial issues. You can see 17 of our episodes at:
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/jericho/digital.phpThis is not for TV and is not high enough exposure for anyone to be concerned about safety. In fact, we don’t intend to really go into conspiracy or underground groups, but rather just want to talk about the climate today vs. the climate at the time of the Civil War and how they are similar. And what kind of scenario it would take for red & blue states to separate and fight. This is all in relation to the show JERICHO which features an all out war between neighboring towns.
I hope this makes a little more sense now…we must find someone in the next few days so if you do have any thoughts of people on the east coast, near NYC, please do let me know!
Much appreciated,
Elisabeth
Personally, these web based videos are about the CLOSEST thing I’ve seen with REAL SURVIVAL information being put out by MAIN STREAM ANYONE in years.
I fully support helping in these projects, but alas, I am in the middle of Wyoming…lightyears away from the Big City.
So…again…the call goes out.
Could you or can you volunteer to help Ms. Harris at CBS, with background info and personal theories on possible future civil war (something pretty much aligned with the current story line in Jericho), in the next few days?
If you’re interesting in helping her, email me for her email address and phone number.

SurvivalRing has been on the web since 1997. It started out as a single web page to support the SurvivalRing Survival and Preparedness webring, hosted way back then on Webring.org (now a poorly run Dot.Com company). Within a couple of months, the webring had 12 members webrings. By the late fall of 1999 (pre Y2K), SurvivalRing had 750 members and amazing traffic.
Starting in early 1998, SurvivalRing become it’s own website, with hosting, downloads, features, and a budding online community was born.
Today, SurvivalRing has been beefed up on infrastructure and backend support, and now has the room, and power, to offer AMAZING future growth.
Here’s the details…
Current online storage capacity….
25 gigabytes (or 25,0000 megabytes)
(originally? 10 megabytes)
Current bandwith limits…
None - Now with Freedom bandwith
(originally? 500 megabytes a month)
Current UNIQUE domain capability…
8 unique, full blown domain baseds websites
(originally? 1…and multiple subdomains)
added…
SSL certificate and security features
unlimited email addresses
unlimited subdomains
much, much more…
Now, what can I do with all that space?
=> Put dozens of CDs worth of new content on the web.
=> Put ISO CD image files on the web for folks to instantly download, if they prefer that do receiving a regular CD in the mail, for both of my CD publications to date
=> Put HUNDREDS of new files online that I’ve been holding off on to keep the site running smoothly without hitting bandwidth or space limitations. The new documents will contain tens of thousands of new pages, never before on the web.
=> Add video productions as I make them, and keep all variations of video files (mpeg, mov, rm, avi, etc) online for visitor choices of download
=> upcoming podcast production…ALL shows will remain online instead of being rotated offline.
Who knows what else I’ll add? But, the good news is, I literally have power and space to put incredible amounts of data, info, and knowledge online, all in one place.
Now, I’ve gone through as many parts of the website since the move was completed today, and think I’ve fixed all the database errors that popped up. If, however, you find any part of the website now working, please email me and let me know so I can fix it asap.
Now, go and enjoy the rest of the website. And, thanks for dropping in…
Rich
Founder-SurvivalRing.org
Let us take bit of time sometime during our day today, and bow our heads in a precious moment of prayer for all those who have gone before us on this anniversary date.
Let us remember all that had happened up to that day…and has happened since.
Let us not forget…that it is up to US….the survivors…to not let this happen again….
And, if this kind of event IS repeated, God forbid…let us have the ability to have shared as much survival information as we humanly can…in any way, shape, or form possible…with the entire world, through all our faculties, web sites, media outlets, and in person.
Should another Day of Infamy occur…Let us be the first ones there to help the victims…we, the people with the skills, the knowledge, and the capacity to comprehend the abilities and talents to rescue as many as possible…with whatever tools we have with us, or can make from whatever is around us.
…and the last ones out…having done everything in our vast and deep resource of inner power and energy…to make sure that everything that could be done….must be done…and will be done….
…has been done.
Let us have had the capacity to take care of our families…completely and totally…so that no matter what, and no matter where…THEY are taken care of and out of harm’s way, with the resources, food, water, and shelter, they will need to keep going should any on of us fall.
I can’t tell you just how much I appreciate each and every one of you for being here…in this incredible little group of ours…SurvivalRing, the Tank, and more.
It is literally beyond words sometimes…and at this moment, tears are welling up.
We have a huge job ahead of us, if we are to make the difference to the American Way…that *I* think we can.
Let’s pause to remember…to reminisce…to ponder…and to pray.
Then, let’s roll up our sleeves, and just get it done.
Thank you…to each and every one of you…for all that you have done…all that you are doing…and all that we will accomplish…together.

Gee…a lot of folks think the USA is gonna nuke Iran…soon.
Really!
Need proof? Here ya go…some scallywag at GlobalResearch.ca claims to Know It All…pictures of nuke clouds and EVERTHING! Scary…
Mr. Scallywag’s real name is Chossudovsky…sounds like a relocated Russian diplomat to me…he even uses big words like Shock and Awe, F117, and Stealth to make his point.
Read for yourself…
Personally, I seriously DOUBT it. I think when it happens, ISRAEL will be floating the balloons…
Rich
The launching of an outright war using nuclear warheads against Iran is now in the final planning stages.
Coalition partners, which include the US, Israel and Turkey are in “an advanced stage of readiness”.
Various military exercises have been conducted, starting in early 2005. In turn, the Iranian Armed Forces have also conducted large scale military maneuvers in the Persian Gulf in December in anticipation of a US sponsored attack.
Since early 2005, there has been intense shuttle diplomacy between Washington, Tel Aviv, Ankara and NATO headquarters in Brussels.
In recent developments, CIA Director Porter Goss on a mission to Ankara, requested Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan “to provide political and logistic support for air strikes against Iranian nuclear and military targets.” Goss reportedly asked ” for special cooperation from Turkish intelligence to help prepare and monitor the operation.” (DDP, 30 December 2005).
This one is an oldie (2002) but a goody. Even more interesting with the recent events of Katrina and Rita, and other regional catastrophies since 9/11. Interesting find about my friend Jim Jones as well, mentioned in the article. Small world…

The ‘new survivalists’
Americans prepare for the worst in a post-9/11 world
By Jonathan Dube
MSNBC
July 29, 2002 - Survivalism is going mainstream. In the wake of Sept. 11, a growing number of Americans are turning to the techniques of survivalism to prepare themselves for terrorism and disaster. But this “New Survivalism” isn’t just about self-preservation. Instead of plotting retreats into mountain bunkers, the New Survivalists are living normal lives while trying to protect family and friends from threats that now seem very real.
In our new world order, where terrorists may strike anybody anywhere; where The New York Times Magazine declares a nuclear attack to be not a question of if, but when; and where survival of the fittest may no longer be just an evolutionary theory but the linchpin of modern-day living, Americans are seeking new ways to ensure that they are fit enough to survive.
As a result, survivalism has undergone a revival since Sept. 11.

NASA sets priorities: Agency will focus on completing space station, shuttle replacement
WASHINGTON (AP) — NASA’s top priorities are a replacement for the space shuttle and completing the international space station, and some other programs are being cut or deferred to concentrate the agency’s resources, NASA Administrator Michael D. Griffin said Thursday.
“NASA cannot afford to do everything on its plate today,” he told the House Science Committee. Funding priorities required the agency to cancel several programs that “we either did not need or did not need right now,” Griffin said.
For example, it seemed like putting the cart before the horse to continue life science studies about how people respond to being in space before the agency was sure it could put people back in space, he said.
In addition to life sciences, another affected program is nuclear systems technology, Griffin said.
That program is designed to provide power to an outpost planned for the surface of the moon. But that won’t be needed until after 2018, so the work is currently being deferred, he said.
The agency has adopted a “go-as-you-can-pay” approach, Griffin said.
That focus on two primary areas should serve as a warning of potential cuts for the rest of NASA, Rep. Bart Gordon commented.
Committee Chairman Sherwood Boehlert expressed support for Griffin but added that “NASA cannot use aeronautics and science as a piggy bank to fund human space flight.”
Griffin said the next flight of the space shuttle is still planned for spring, adding that while the agency was surprised by problems with the foam insulation on the last flight, a lot has been learned from that.
NASA has been developing the new crew exploration vehicle, which is intended to fly to the moon but also can replace the space shuttle when it goes out of service.
Delaying that work could result in the United States being out of the manned spaceflight business for a few years after the shuttle is retired, at the same time other nations are increasing their space programs, Griffin said.
In addition, he said, NASA is encouraging private industry to submit proposals to carry cargo and crew to the space station.
