Rich’s State of the Blog Address…

Sunday 6 February 2005 @ 6:08 am

(just posted on my Blogspot Blog, and thought I would share it here as well…just in case you read it there first…first posting on the blogspot since LAST May, which is what the first few lines refer to)

Back after a long delay …. some of you have probably been running that infamous line from the movie, “Dances With Wolves”, thru your minds over and over again….

“Now why don’t he write?”

- (in reference to, for those who may have missed it, the bleached skeleton of a victim of native american vengence and scalping, laying in the grass of a sunny afternoon)

No, I’m not dead…or even mortally wounded…

In case you were wondering, I’ve been REALLY BUSY with college again.

(better have been! geez….*9* months since your last post here on May 2004!)

Being a middle-aged old fart, with a wife and two of my kids -ALL of us- in college at the same time is nerve wracking, to say the least. Annie and I are entering our fourth full semester, and both of us took summer classes as well.

I’ll be getting my Broadcasting (Electronic Media Production) Associates of Applied Science Degree on May 13th, 2005, and will be breathing a BIG sigh of relief when I take that walk across the stage.

Who wants NEW videos? Custom made to learn how to stay safe…

Sunday 6 February 2005 @ 3:44 am

I’m almost finished with my Electronic Media Production (broadcasting) Associate of Applied Science degree, and I’ve been collecting the hardware, software, and equipment to begin producing my very own video projects, from scripting to DVD production.

I consider my editing skills quite good, my writing skills just fine, and my content understanding exquisite.

I would like to know what YOU, the average guy on the street, would find interesting in NEW video productions, on the following areas…

a) survival topics…anything

b) preparedness topics…family focus

c) civil defense history…how far back, and what specifically

d) fallout shelters…how to, why, where, when?

e) disaster hazards..in general, or your neck of the woods?

f) how to’s ….name your poison…what do YOU want to learn how to do…

…or anything else…

Give me as much detail, location, level of research, or anything you can think of, that YOU, as a consumer, would like to see enter the market of non-fiction video training, and/or entertainment.

My equipment is all digital, and quality of production is broadcast quality. I would like to produce first, what the majority of folks need most….

I have many ideas, but I would like to ask your feedback and personal needs first, before major projects are laid out and planned….

Thanks, to all who reply to this thread…

Rich

What would YOU like to hear on SurvivalRing radio?

Sunday 6 February 2005 @ 3:42 am

As most of you may know, I’ve spent most of the past year and a half on the radio here in my hometown of Riverton, Wyoming as a Classic Rock DJ, at a 100,000 watt FM station.

I learned quite a lot about production, needs, advertising, and back end work needed to make things work.

I am planning on producing a weekly 1 to 2 hour radio show for SurvivalRing, which will be offered as MP3 download files.

As with the video projects mentioned above, I also have the neccessary hardware and software for all production needs.

I’ll need to expand the SurvivalRing website with more online storage and available bandwidth, but this has already been planned.

Now for some more questions…
