Reviews of Interesting Preparedness Stuff! By Richard A. Fleetwood - May 2001 The "World of Survival, Preparedness, and Self Reliance PRODUCTS" is bigger than anyone can imagine. Thousands upon thousands of products, old and new, are bring presented before our eyes everyday in all kinds of new ways, in an effort to get you and I, the consumers, to part with our income to be able to live a safer, easier, longer, and more fulfilling life. Y2k went mainstream, giving us Y2k sales pitches for everything from RAID insecticides, to Polaroid Instant Desposible cameras, to who knows what else. The few REAL magazines (which I classify as those that have been around for years), such as American Survival Guide, Mother Earth News, CountrySide, Backwoods Home, and even Back Home, ALL offer hundreds of advertisements on everything possible, including the kitchen sink, waterless toilets, and hog pen plans. Several of these have in every issue "reviews" of products for use in situations YOU might be in someday. ASG likes guns and knives, MEN likes farm tools, and Backwoods Home likes informational things like books. While I read ALL these magazines when I can, and favor a few more than others, there is nothing like actual hands on experience of something new to see if a product, book, video, meal, software, tool, clothing or training course is REALLY what it claims to be...and if it REALLY is worth the amount of Federal Reserve Notes required to obtain them. I have a handful of products that have been in my possesion for a while, or that I have used myself, that are the same things you will see mentioned in the magazines described above. I will be placing reviews of these, and any future items sent my way, in this part of SurvivalRing, and also will post OTHER writings by those of you who want to do the same. If anything we offer here helps you learn more about a product BEFORE buying or using it, than we have accomplished what we wanted. Here are the AREAS we will cover.
