Nuclear Thoughts...New Threats? By Richard A. Fleetwood - May 2001 (From My Summer 2000 Newsletter) [Nuclear Thoughts> - I haven't heard any body in the media putting this together yet, so maybe I might be on the edge here.....or probably not. Who knows? As you must have heard by now, there have been TWO major fires the past month....both near NUCLEAR WAR PROJECT reservations.....Los Alamos in New Mexico, and the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington State. Both instances brought HUGE media coverage for some reason regarding POTENTIAL lethality for the populace due to radiation contamination caused by flames of buildings and toxic dumps raising nuclear fallout to fall on downwind victims. It was to such a worrisome point that firefighters and public safety officials were all wearing radiological DOSIMETERS .... used to detect radioactive contamination of humans. This little point is what truly bothers me. Why? Well, according to the wonderful media and government spokesmen, there were no "KNOWN" releases of radioactivity caused by the fires. This is all well and good. However, think about it. The media pointed out that they were WORRIED about nuclear fallout. They pointed out that the GOVERNMENT folks were worried about nuclear fallout. Teams where in place to clean up if neccessary. What this all has enabled is letting the WORLD know that there are specific locations now where NUCLEAR MATERIAL can be had in NATURAL DISASTERS.....or more clearly, where unknown terrorists on some unknown Jihad can create a nuclear incident WITHOUT having access to NUCLEAR material. Now, dwell on that for a moment. OK, you getting a clearer picture now? The same technology the world's terrorists have used to blow airliners out of the sky in Lockerbie and other places, can now be used to open up a "can of Whoop-Ass (tm)" by targeting a compound such as these in any way they can, and releasing deadly clouds of nuclear waste material to the poor civilians downwind. And the media has made it very clear exactly where the bad guys can go and find this stuff. Now, granted, they have not made this connection for us....yet. And maybe they won't....at least not the respectable media. But somebody is paying attention....who has the beginning means to follow thru and "Cry Havoc and let loose the Dogs of War". Unfortunately, if something of this magnitude DOES happen, the mindbending consequences of crisis relocation, sheltering in place, emergency relocation, and regional or local martial law may all come to bear, WITHOUT need for a full blown nuclear holocaust. Then there is the LACK of widespread disemination of FALLOUT SHELTER use, building, and so forth. My work so far has created a library of data a solid two feet thick at this moment. But it is NOT due to the government....it's in SPITE of the goverment that I have as much data now as I do. Shame on them...it should be given to EVERY address in the nation....since we are the ones who created the first atomic weapons in the first place. I'm working on getting it online as I can .... stay tuned. While on the subject of Nuclear Preparedness, here is some info you might find useful. NOTE FROM RICHARD:May 2001... After having spent the past 8 months on the road driving coast to coast, I actually passed by Oak Ridge AND the Hanford Nuclear Reservation after the fires above had happened, seeing the hundreds of acres of burned ground coming right up to the highways I was driving by on. I even passed through the Gorge on Interstate 40, east of Oak Ridge about 82 miles, and the entire tops of the mountains on both sides to the gorge were on fire in the middle of the nite thanks to lightning strikes...a very disturbing vision knowing what was near. I still stand by what I mention above...it is too easy for a terrorist with non nuclear material to cause a radiological incident. Updated May 2001 - © 2001 By Richard A. Fleetwood
